Hi.

I just moved here from NYC and am starting to get out on the roads again after my first Midwest Winter - yikes.
Even though I am more of a track rider than anything else I wouldn't mind finding the odd hill to ride occasionally - this place is so flat.
Any ideas on where to go?
Can anyone list specific climbs or even steep streets that are useful enough for hill repeats etc?

Thanks.

Steve.

I'm not too familiar with the SW burbs, but you might try this route out to Palos: http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-st ... /264427259

Lemont is CVV's home turf, and if the Olympics come here, a road race in Chicago would probably be around there (unless it goes to Wisconsin).

Don't know of any in Chicago, but out in the west or NW burbs, there are a few ideas:

- Al Capones Hideaway - on the east side of the fox river just north of St. Charles. A little over 100 foot climb that maxes out at 14% grade.

- Algonquin - Huntington Drive just west of 31. Don't have the details on this climb, but if I had to compare it to Capones, it is longer but less steep. Well known by local cyclists. There are also a lot of rolling routes in this area.

Hope that helps.

Scott

Thanks for these tips, I'll try getting out to some of them.

Cheers,

Steve

does anybody have a list of some of these climbs or hills with grade and length? may be moving to chicago and need to know of some of these. i'm spoiled here in missouri and getting 5000 ft. of climbing on a ride is the norm.
